This photo mint of Jon Lester celebrates his May 19, 2008 no-hitter against the Royals. It includes two specially minted coins, one of which contains authentic infield dirt from Fenway Park.
An 8" x 10" photo shows Lester throwing the final pitch of his no-hitter against the backdrop of Fenway's manual scoreboard. An inset photo shows Lester embraced by catcher Jason Varitek moments after he struck out Alberto Callaspo to throw the 18th no-hitter in Red Sox history. Two coins are part of this collectible piece. A 24-karat gold plated coin has the Boston Red Sox logo on it. Infield dirt from Fenway was placed onto a bronze coin, done in the presence of authenticator Deloitte & Touche. A numbered hologram allows anybody to verify the dirt's authenticity and date of collection online at Major League Baseball's website. Limited in edition to 2,008 pieces, the photo mint is double matted in Red Sox colors and comes in a classy black molded wood frame. A numbered certificate of authenticity, which lists basic information about Lester's no-hitter, is placed between the two 1.5" diameter coins.
