April 11, 2005 certainly was a day to remember at Fenway Park. On that glorious Monday afternoon the Boston Red Sox celebrated the glory of their first World Championship in 86 years with a lavish pregame ring ceremony. This panorama from famed photographer Rob Arra captures the beauty and euphoria of that ceremony.

A Day To Remember - World Series Ring CeremonyThis was the day Red Sox Nation had been waiting for. After their miraculous comeback against the Yankees and sweep of the Cardinals, the 2004 Red Sox made history and broke the unofficial curse of the Bambino. That team was honored in a pregame ceremony held under sunny skies on Opening Day of 2005. Red Sox Nation at last could officially rejoice! This panorama of Fenway Park during the Ring Ceremony was taken from directly behind the Red Sox dugout. In amazing clarity you can bear witness to what was possibly the greatest day in Fenway Park's storied history. With color guards from each of the five military branches standing at attention in the outfield, you can see Joe Castiglione and Don Orsillo serving their Masters of Ceremony duties behind home plate. The Red Sox are lined up on the first base line with a giant banner that says World Series 2004 Champions draped over the Green Monster behind them. Also a part of the pomp and circumstance were a lineup of Red Sox legends from yesteryear and Boston's opponents, none other than the New York Yankees, forced to watch the ceremony from the third base line and perhaps the only people in Fenway Park who considered April 11, 2005 a day to forget. All in all, it was a picture perfect day at Fenway and much like the 2004 Red Sox this poster is one for the ages. |
