The Faces of Fenway photo mosaic may look like just a poster of Fenway Park's exterior from a distance, but when viewed closely you'll notice tiny cells of over 1,500 player images that make up 100 years of Boston Red Sox baseball history.
Chosen to appear on the poster are 200 players who wore the Red Sox uniform from 1907-2007. Most were starters for at least two years in Boston, although there are some exceptions. For example, most players from the 1946, 1967, 1975, 1986 and 2004 World Series teams are pictured on the poster. Big Papi, Dewey, Johnny Pesky, Manny, Nomar, Rico Petrocelli, Ted Williams, Tony C. and Carl Yastrzemski are among the 200 players that make up the mosaic. The most significant players, like Yaz, have more than one photo. The unframed poster is made of 300 different player photos, primarily headshots, and the most the same image repeats on the poster is six times. In all, 1,646 images (cells) of your favorite Red Sox make up a colorful print of the championship flags that grace the exterior of Fenway Park on Yawkey Way.
